Rebecca,
The most likely cause for the bad chicken that you
purchased, is lack of proper handling by someone in the
distribution chain, after it left Foster Farms. This could
be very hard to pinpoint.
Just a few possibilities, the trucking company, the
supermarket chain that you purchased the chicken from even
improper handling on your part.
A few questions you should ask yourself. Was the label on
the chicken the original Foster Farm label or had the market
that you purchased it from replaced it with theirs? Did you
go strait home and refrigerate the chicken within one half
hour of purchasing and place it in a refrigerator with a
temperature of below forty degrees? Did the chicken sit in
your refrigerator for more than two days before
cooking?
(Tim's recommendation for all fresh meat, poultry and dairy
products is to place them in an iced cooler in your car as
soon as you leave the store, also you should not depend on
the dial on your refrigerator. It is recommended
that all homes have an inexpensive temperature gauge and to
adjust the temperature in their refrigerator to below 40
degrees. I keep mine at 34 degrees.)
If you feel that you are not at fault, I would go back to
the market where you made the purchase and ask for a refund,
if they refuse I would find another store to shop at.
I would also call Foster Farms at 1 800-255-7227, Monday
- Friday 8 AM to 5PM PST and let them know of you
dissatisfaction.
