Mail Order Rip-Off
|
|
Tim,
On Dec 9, 2002, I purchased a video tape from a mail-order
company in Florida called Deer Creek Products. The order was
completed over the telephone by credit card. I never
received any further acknowledgement of the order- other
than my credit card bill- nor have I received the video
tape. Despite numerous attempts- by telephone and U.S. mail-
I have still had no success in contacting customer service
(954-978-0597) and am at a loss as to what to do next.

Michael,
Deer Creek Products filed Chapter 7 bankruptcy.
You need to submit a Proof of Claim form. You can obtain a
form by writing to: US Bankruptcy Court 51 SW First Ave.
Miami, FL 33130 Be sure to include the case number: #0227313
The last date to file a claim is December 31, 2003.
I have no idea what assets they have, but should you
file a claim you most likely will only receive pennies on
the dollar, if that!
Your patience is what has ultimately led to your loss. If
you had contacted your credit card provider within sixty
days of receiving your card statement after the charge first
appeared and filed a dispute. You could have gotten one
hundred percent of your money back. Details of this process
are on the back of your credit card statement. For more
in-depth information on this procedure read the terms and
conditions that came with your card. If you threw them out
like most consumers, call your credit provider and ask them
to send you a new one.
