Letters to Tim
Real Estate

Tim,

I sold my house. Two days before the closing date, we had a hurricane come through which damaged my roof. The closing was moved until the roof was repaired. I moved to another state and just now, 2 months after, received email that the roof is leaking and the roof needs to completely be redone, my contractor did bad work (so they say). They gave me an estimate way higher than I even got from the insurance company from my claim. Do I have to pay, or what are my rights and/or obligations.

Heidi

Tim's Answer

Heidi,

This is a situation that is going to require the services of an attorney that specializes in real estate law in the state that the problem occurred in.
