Supermarket ConsumerFraud
by

Did you buy Kleenex today?

If you purchased a package that said "Buy three get one free" there is a high degree of likelihood that you became a victim of Consumer Fraud!

I know that I was!

Today Saturday October 04, 2003 I visited a Southern California supermarket chain and picked up a four pack of 160 count two ply Kleenex priced at $3.49 The package clearly states buy three get one free.

I then looked at the shelf below at the single boxes of Kleenex the same 160 count 2 ply.
The single box price was .99 cents. Let's see 3 x .99 = 2.97. I quickly realized that if I purchased the larger package I was not getting a Free box but was actually paying .52 cents for it. When this was brought up to the manager I was told "that this had already been approved by the corporate office and was not a violation of any consumer law including weights and measures". I have intentionally left out the name of the supermarket chain until I get their side of the story.

Let me know what you think. Was I a victim?
E-mail me your thoughts.
